Whys and Wherefores
I was already into street theatre and especially on Bikes when I was commissioned to build my first Kamishibai Theatre. I did Punch and Judy and I found this form to be as powerful. Using a fixed image the Picture anchors the audience we are all on the same page and for some reason it beats ordinary Story telling hands down on the street. There its noisy and Kamishibai works from the very first show. It is also a medium of many differing styles from the pictures, through the style of acting of the Performer to....well try it it is defiantly an kinesthetic experiential thing, have a go. Photocopy a few pics try four to start with and see you can get you images from Clipart, digital cameras Collage or the good old pencil and pen. they are your images Experiment. your children ( big kids too) will love it.
